How Categories Work
Different competition levels use categories differently.
The category engine will be flexible enough to support one-theme challenges or full annual award structures.

Weekly: One Clear Theme
Weekly challenges should stay simple and fast, usually based on one theme.
- Examples: Reflections, Golden Hour, Motion
- Fast submission window
- Simple public gallery

Monthly: One Main Subject
Monthly competitions can focus on one broad subject with optional subcategories.
- Examples: Portrait Month, Wildlife Month
- Jury evaluation
- Finalists and certificates

Annual: Full Category System
The annual Alpha 8 Awards can include multiple major categories and special awards.

Category rules will always be competition-specific.
A photograph may fit several subjects, but each submission must be entered into the correct category for that competition. Final definitions, editing limits, AI rules and image requirements will appear before entry.
Future Global Expansion
New category systems can be added without rebuilding the platform.
The database will allow Alpha 8 to introduce global, country-specific, sponsor and Pro-only competitions later.

Regional and national competition categories can be activated for different countries.
